What's happening at Lonely Pets Club?

Dr Katrina Warren and friends

Come to meet LPC Ascot Vale's Julie Fisher at the Maribyrnong Pet Expo on 20th March. Special guest Dr Katrina Warren (right) will be presenting prizes. Pets are welcome and this year's event is shaping up to be huge - with plenty of kids activities, pet competitions, food, drinks, beverages and microchipping.

Since our last edition, we've welcomed aboard new Lonely Pets Club franchisees Michelle Falconer in Hervey Bay, Qld and Lynda Gibson in Bull Creek, Perth. So if you have any friends with pets in those areas, please let them know that LPC Has Arrived!

Its been a while since our last newsletter. "Yours truly" has been on maternity leave. Little Katie was born on August 15th. She still wakes us every night... but she is adorable, despite a distinct lack of FUR.

Thanks for all our members who came up to say hello to us at the recent Caulfield Pet Expo and also at the Guide Dogs Victoria Open Day. It was great to see you.

Million Paws Walk

LPC Western Melbourne Franchisee Betsy Chamberlain (left) has got her hands full at the moment, she is in charge of organising this year's RSPCA's Million Paws Walk in Wyndham Vale (Werribee, Victoria) on 15th May.

Can you help Betsy? She's looking for -

  • Volunteers to help on the day and/or in the lead up to it.
  • 'Feel-good' stories about LPC Member dogs which were adopted from the RSPCA (see your dog in the paper!).
  • Donations of prizes for the event.
  • Businesses interested in hosting a stall.
If you can help, please call Betsy directly on 0417 274434. Register here now to participate in the Wyndham Vale walk or here for other locations across Australia.

No I have NOT seen your lipstick!
Why would you even ask me?

Here's another way to help the RSPCA. Register your pet to appear in the very first edition of Pet Tails, a stunning coffee table book containing a collection of beautiful pet images, to be published in October 2011.

Your $150 registration will include a photographic session with one of Melbourne's premier pet photographers, such as LPC Carer Anna Clemman, and a copy of Pet Tails.

Register here now to help raise much needed funds for abandoned and neglected animals. Places are limited and all proceeds will go directly to the RSPCA.

Pet Health

Myxometosis Alert - Due to the mosquito plague this year, cases of myxomatosis in rabbits has soared. Franchisee Betsy Chamberlain lost three rabbits to myxometosis. This painful disease has no vaccine or cure. Cover hutches with mosquito nets and discuss preventative treatment with your vet. According to the Maribyrnong Vet Clinic, an insect repellent treatment available to dogs can be used for rabbits.

Vet House Calls for Pets Veterinarian Michael Elek provides a convenient house call service in the Inner and Northern Suburbs of Melbourne. Visit the House Calls for Pets website for details.
